From the Commander
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, to those of you that don’t know me, and to share with you some information that is going on at Marion Heyde - Pillow VFW post 1301.
My name is Bill Rice and I am pleased to be the Commander again here at the Marion VFW. I have held this position for the last three years and I am honored to contribute my time to the Post in any way I Can.
We just made the Post an "All State Post” for the first time in 15 years.
I am open to any, suggestions or support that you can provide to make this the best an or an "All American Post”. It takes a team to make a post great, and any help is appreciated. You can share your ideas or suggestions at the meetings, or I welcome you to contact me directly. We are always seeking volunteers for any of our activities. The best way to stay informed and involved and know what activities are coming up or being planned is to is to come to the post and to the meetings.
**The Post meeting are held the 2ndand 4th Monday of the month at 7 pm at the Post**
We have Karaoke on the 1st & 4thand 5th Friday of the month, beginning at 8 p.m. Please come out and join us for a great night of entertainment and some wonderful singers. We also still have the weekly drawing that is just a dollar ($1.00) to get in Friday night about 8:30 P.M.
We are into our 23 week of our Queen of Hearts game and the jackpot is up to a little over $15,000.00, but you only have two more weeks to get in it. We have a meal about 5 P.M.
We also have a 50/50 drawing on Friday night after the Queen of Hearts drawing. You must be present to win the entire 50% of the drawing.
VFW Post 1301 is always looking for new members. If you know someone that has served in a combat zone and imminent danger/hostile pay, they may. Please have them come out and see us, we will see if we can get them signed up.
In closing, I would to share OUR MISSION: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve all veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of All Veterans…To ensure that All veterans are respected for their service to the United States Of America and receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this Great Country.
